When I got my license I knew two things – I love people and I love looking for houses. Both are unique, and I have always preferred work that brings new challenges and opportunities daily. Through my time as a bartender and server, I learned to listen without expectation or judgement. My favorite response to a customer who had a request they deemed strange was, “You like what you like.” The same can be said in the real estate market.
People come to me full of possibilities and uncertainty. They have vastly different goals and motivations for why they are looking for a home. Some are looking forward to growing their family, and others are grieving the loss of a lifetime of memories as they transition to a home they are more able to care for. Some are building passive income for the future through investments. Today as I reflect, I find each transaction precious.
As a realtor I am honored to walk with clients through these transitions in life. I find myself protective of my young, first-time buyers. I dream of the possibilities with clients who are ready for something bigger and newer. I am able to sit quietly and listen to sellers as they speak of their financial goals that may be accomplished by selling a home they have loved well and long. There are few privileges quite like this one – and few responsibilities so weighty.
